How to approve or deny CPD requests in People Development as a Line Manager
Your organisation may require Line Managers and / or members of the CPD Team to approve CPD requests.

To approve CPD requests as a Line Manager:
- Click on 'People Development' from the left hand navigation.
- Click on 'Change' in the left hand navigation.
- Select 'Manage'.
- Click on 'CPD' from the left hand navigation.
- You will see all CPD requests for the current academic year for those you line manage.
- Adjust the filters if necessary to find relevant requests.
- ℹ️ If you have multiple requests to approve, adjust the 'Line Manager Agreement' filter to 'Pending' to display all those requiring action.
- Requests that require Line Manager agreement will display 'pending' in this column.
- Click on 'Pending', or on the name of the 'CPD Activity'.
- Once you have reviewed the details of the requests, click on 'Line Manager Agreement' to approve, or to decline the request click on 'Line Manager Denial'.
- You will be asked to provide a reasons for the decision before clicking the 'Approve' or 'Deny' buttons to confirm the action.
To change the approval decision of a CPD request:
Occasionally it may be necessary to change the approval decision you have made, for example if there are changes in staffing that affect your decision.
To change the approval decision:
- Click on 'People Development' from the left hand navigation.
- Click on 'Change' in the left hand navigation.
- Select 'Manage'.
- Click on 'CPD' from the left hand navigation.
- You will see all CPD requests for the current academic year for those you line manage.
- Find the request within the list. You can adjust the 'Line Manager Agreement' filter to display 'Agreed' or 'Denied' as appropriate to find this more easily.
- Click into the 'CPD Activity'.
- Use the 'Change to Agreed' button to approve a previously denied request, or use the 'Change to Denied' button to deny a previously approved request.
- Add a reason to the box before confirming the action using the blue button.
