Setup & Settings: Customisation

In this guide we will cover how to customise

  1. Feature names
  2. The Objectives Form
  3. Help texts

ℹ️ You will need to have been granted admin permission to Customisation and Templates. If you do not have this and require it, please speak to your organisation's People Development Membership lead or get in touch with our team.

1. Customise Feature Names

Changes made here will be reflected across the application and displayed on all pages and areas where the terminology appears. To help improve the user experience, a notification is generated for the users in your organisation when terminology in the application is changed.

  • Head to Admin and select Customisation from the left-hand navigation menu.
  • Select Terminology Bank from the expanded sub-menu.
  • From each dropdown, select your preferred object and field name and then press Save
  • Changing the feature name will alter how the featured is referred to in the left hand navigation. Changing the feature object will alter how actions eg buttons/ tabs are renamed within the feature

Should you wish to suggest alternate fields please email support@blueskyeducation.co.uk. Suggested fields must be contextually accurate and be an alternative language for the existing field. 


2. Customise the Objective Form

The Objectives Form within the People Development platform, in addition to the Title (Description), has 4 fields. Should you wish to hide these as opposed to rename them using the Terminology feature you can do so here.

  • Select Templates from the left-hand navigation menu.
  • Select Objectives Form from the expanded sub-menu.
  • Simply select Hide to the right of the fields you wish to hide.
  • Press Save.


3. Customise Help Texts

Throughout our key features (CPD, Objectives and Observations) we provide tooltips and instructional text aiding users on how to complete fields. Now you can customise these to provide detailed instruction, inform users not to use particular fields in line with your processes or provide guidance on the content expected.

  • Select Customisation from the left-hand navigation menu.
  • Select Help Texts from the expanded sub-menu.
  • The first area available is CPD. Here in order of appearance on the CPD form are the relevant and available fields you can customise the help text for.
  • To view the current text, simply hover over the blue icon. You can also view the text once you select Edit. 

Once you have selected Edit, simply type your new tooltip into the text field and press Update.



Once you have added a new tooltip the icon will turn orange. This is reflected around the application so users can see custom tooltips vs the default tooltips.
