How do you set Recurrence for a course?

Recurrence can only be set to content within a Learning Plan.

In order to set up recurrence you will need to set up a Learning Plan and add content to it. It does not have to be published in order to set recurrence up.

Once the Learning Plan is set up and has content in it:

  • Click into 'Admin' in the top navigation.

  • Click on 'Professional Development in the left hand navigation.

  • Select 'Manage Learning Plans' from the left hand navigation.

  • Locate the Learning Plan and click on the 3 dots to the righthand end of the row. If you are unable to see the 3 dots, scroll to the bottom of the page to locate the horizontal scroll bar.

  • Click on 'Edit' in the menu under the 3 dots.

  • Use the toggle to switch from 'Edit' view to 'Content' view.

  • Find the content you wish to add recurrence to and use the drop down to select the frequency.

  • You can either click 'Save draft' to save the changes but leave the Learning Plan unpublished.

  • Clicking 'Publish' will make the Learning Plan visible to all users immediately.

When should you use recurrence?

When you require training to be retaken on a regular basis but it doesn't need to be taken by a strict deadline, recurrence can be set.

If the training must be completed by a set deadline to ensure all users are compliant, for example in the instance of safeguarding training, recurrence may not be the most appropriate choice since the recurrence deadline will be determined by the user's first completion date. In this case we would suggest setting a deadline for the Learning Plan but not setting recurrence for the content.
