Prevent Duty Training Updates: What You Need to Know

What has changed with Prevent Duty training?

The newly updated Prevent Duty course is now live, and it aligns with the updated guidance. The course replacement does not reset existing completions to zero, even though the content has been fully updated.

Who needs to complete the updated course?

Anyone who started but has not yet completed the previous version needs to continue with the updated course. The course remains within existing Learning Plans.

What happens to previous completions?

Existing Prevent completions are not reset. Once the new refresher is available, users who have already completed the training will be able to choose either:

  • The shorter update refresher
  • The full course again
Is the Prevent refresher available?

The current Prevent refresher has been unpublished while the new refresher is being developed. It is expected to be available in approximately 3–4 weeks.

What will the new refresher cover?

The new refresher will cover:

  • The key principles
  • Significant updates
  • Areas of increased emphasis within the revised Prevent guidance

This provides a proportionate way to keep staff knowledge current.
